RANUNCULUS IN MEADOW + KSH

Ranunculus, by designer Midori Hirose, is a perennial fixture on Ravelry's Hot Right Now pattern lineup. So why have nearly 12,000 knitters made this sweater? Beyond the obvious beauty of its lacy yoke, this customizable sweater is a deceptively simple knit that's size-inclusive and super comfortable to wear! Most people we know who've knit one have ended up knitting two or more!

We knit our Ranunculus sample companion style by holding together one strand of luscious Fibre Company Meadow + one strand of Rowan Kidsilk Haze. This combo created an ethereal fabric that's truly a celebration of spring in sweater form!

Read on for more details about Meadow; it's sure to become your go-to yarn for warmer temps. We've also got a few bonus pattern ideas to add to your spring knitting queue!

Meadow is a soft and balanced blend of merino, baby llama, silk, and linen with a gauge that falls neatly in between laceweight and fingering weight. It has a satisfyingly crisp stitch definition and knits up into breathable, lightweight fabrics with a supple drape and a silky sheen. And because of its linen content, fabrics made with Meadow will grow even softer with wear.

The nature of Meadow's fiber blend has an exciting effect on how the yarn absorbs color during the dyeing process. As a result, each hand-dyed hue in the Meadow palette is tonal and heathered but with exquisitely rich depth.

Ranunculus is a wildly adaptable pattern that gives you lots of customizable options. Choose a smaller or wider neckline, longer length, long or short sleeves, or more/less ease. The materials suggested below reflect our short-sleeved sample version knit companion style. Feel free to ask a Loop staffer for help modifying this pattern to satisfy your personal preferences!

To knit your own Ranunculus sweater, you'll need:

AUGUSTINE SHAWLETTE

The Augustine Shawlette is probably the most fun you'll ever have with dropped stitches! This 1-skein shawl is knit side to side, increasing and adding stitches until the halfway point; then, you'll work decreases and deliberately drop stitches to create unraveled horizontal columns.

To knit this shawl, you'll need:

SHAKERAG TOP

Loop staffer Kathy recently used Meadow to knit herself a gorgeous Shakerag Top from designer Amy Christoffers. Kathy says she was seduced by the pattern and yarn combination, and it turned out to be the first summer top she's ever knitted!

This top's stripes are created by knitting with two strands of Meadow held together to create the opaque stripes, then switching to just one strand for the sheerer stripes. It makes such a beautiful effect!

To knit this top, you'll need:

BACK IN STOCK: SANDNES GARN

LINE

This delightful linen blend is ready for summer! Make an Anker's Summer Shirt, Thea Top, or Spring Roll Wrap!

Merino + cotton is a perfect combination for year-round wear! So cast on for a Brest Tee, Anna's Summer Cardigan, or a Summer Sidewalk blanket!
