Loop Yarn Two Fades are Better Than One!

There are few knitterly things more satisfying than a well-executed fade!

Progressively blending a variety of yarn colorways into a cohesive knit is a fun way to coordinate your favorite hand-dyes into an ultra-customized, super wearable accessory.

Today we're revisiting the classic shawls that started it all from the fade queen herself, Andrea Mowry: Find Your Fade and Free Your Fade in Fiberstory Fave Sock and Squish Wish from Dye is Cast!

First up, Find Your Fade, is the pattern that ignited the collective frenzy for color faded knits!

This super-sized, asymmetrical triangle shawl encourages you to get creative with 7 colors of fingering weight yarn and alternates panels garter stitch with mesh lace to keep the knitting engaging. 

If you've been craving a generously sized shawl that you can simultaneously loop around your neck and drape around your shoulders, this is the shawl for you! It's such an elegant statement piece!

For our sample, we used Fiberstory Fave Sock in Shimmer, Sundress, Gilded, Koi Pond, Deep Sea, Drew, and Midnight. 

To knit a Find Your Fade Shawl, you'll need:

• 7 skeins of Fiberstory Fave Sock
• US 4 32" circular needle
• Find Your Fade pattern

This is a great shawl for blending tonal colors with speckled skeins! If you'd like some help coordinating your color fade, feel free to ask a Loop staffer!

If you prefer a standard-sized fade shawl, Free Your Fade encourages you to blend 3 or more fingering weight colorways into a bias knit, garter stitch confection that's dotted with neat rows of yarn over eyelets + a picot bind off edge. 

For our sample, we used 3 soft and colorful skeins of Philly-dyed Squish Wish from Dye Is Cast in Silver Lining, Antique Mystique, and Black Forest.

To knit Free Your Fade, you'll need:

• 3 skeins of Dye Is Cast Squish Wish or Fave Sock
• US 4 32" circular needle
• Free Your Fade pattern

Squish Wish

L: blossom pink, harvest moon, bee pollen R: world peas, oak island, under the sea

Fave Sock L: barely, cordial, mum R: squeeze, sundress, jasper

Fave Sock L: mist, chill, drew R: truffle, mina, smash
