Like an aluminum torpedo, the Airstream trailer is one of those instantly recognizable sights on the highway. It’s a recreational vehicle that’s been around for almost a century, and for most of that time, it’s looked just about the way it does today. But over time, the design of the iconic Airstream has subtly changed, inside and out. And at a new museum the Airstream company just opened, the evolution of that design is shown to have some surprising connections to key moments in American history. Read my article to see how the granddaddy of #vanlife was influenced by World War II, the space race, the bigger-is-better 1980s, and the remote-work lifestyle of the pandemic.

Are Tesla layoffs coming? What you need to know
Elon Musk told Tesla executives that the company needs to cut about 10% of its workers, reports Reuters. That’s according to an email seen by the news agency and sent by the Tesla chief.
The email, which Reuters described as “brief,” was titled “pause all hiring worldwide,” and in it, Musk said he had a “super bad feeling” about the economy.
At the end of 2021, Tesla employed about 100,000 people, so a 10% reduction in workers would mean around 10,000 jobs at the company could be lost.
Musk isn’t the only business leader worried about the economy. With inflation nearing a 40-year high, plenty of tech companies have already announced layoffs advance of an economic downturn.
