From the Ford Bronco to the Tesla Cybertruck, all-weather interiors are blending with camping and cooking accessories to turn vehicles into adventure mobiles. And it’s a trend that’s only growing by the day. So imagine my surprise when I stumbled across a little gem that Pontiac (yes, the defunct makers of plastic-covered sports cars) predicted more than 30 years ago. Their Pontiac Stinger was a concept car from 1989. While never released, it was a wild take on the dune buggy, filled with integrated accessories (tools, hoses, picnic benches!) that matched the car’s neon-green hue. The Stinger was a car far ahead of its time, which is precisely why now would be the perfect moment for General Motors to bring it back as a must-have EV.
