WWDC is still months away, but leakers are already battling over iOS 19 mockups. Apple might be looking to invest in NVIDIA servers for AI development efforts, while the iPhone 16 range could finally reach customers in Indonesia as soon as April 11.
Here’s what happened during the past week, and why it matters. |

Apple is expected to unveil iOS 19 at its annual Worldwide Developers’ Conference on June 9, and leakers are already talking about the new operating system design.
This week, a source with a poor track record showcased a series of mockups that supposedly represent Apple’s unreleased iOS 19 design, inspired by visionOS. It didn’t take long for a more reliable leaker to question the veracity of the images.
Our take: The source who shared the iOS 19 mockups is by no means reliable. Time will tell if Apple’s designs bear any resemblance to these early leaks, but it’s unlikely.

Apple’s long-rumored foldable iPhone is expected to have a display with a 4:3 aspect ratio, and a liquid metal hinge 2.5 times stronger than a titanium alloy. It would also allow for better resistance to bending and deformation. making the device more durable.
The iPhone 17 Pro could get 8K video recording, according to a recent rumor. Meanwhile, the long-forgotten iPhone mini line reportedly won’t make a comeback anytime soon, which isn’t much of a surprise.
The takeaway: This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of a liquid metal hinge for the iPhone Fold, meaning there’s a decent chance we could see it on the final product. The iPhone 17 Pro rumor, meanwhile, hasn’t been corroborated by other sources.

The US manufacturing of Apple chip supplier TSMC is reportedly five years behind its Taiwan factories. TSMC’s second Arizona facility will allegedly start manufacturing 3nm chips in 2028, while a third facility is set to produce 2nm chips starting in 2030.
Separately, a questionable report claims that Apple is investing heavily into NVIDIA servers for AI development. Apple is supposedly buying 250 Nvidia NVL72 servers at a cost of between $3.7 million and $4 million each. Our take: It’s unlikely that TSMC’s US facilities will reach the level of its Taiwan manufacturing operations anytime soon, nor can we expect an impact on Apple product prices. Apple could be looking to purchase NVIDIA servers for AI development, but it seems far-fetched given the company’s prior statements.

Turkish authorities are investigating an accusation that Apple and local resellers set prices in contravention of anti-competition laws. Apple and its resellers could be fined up to 10% of their worldwide gross annual income in the year before the year of the violation.
Separately, the EU is reportedly satisfied with the iOS browser selection screen, so it looks like Apple won’t face any fines on that front. Indonesia, meanwhile, is finally set to lift its iPhone 16 sale ban on April 11, 2025.
Our take: Details surrounding Turkey’s antitrust investigation are scarce, and the outcome remains to be seen. The EU, on the other hand, has repeatedly forced Apple to make changes that enable freedom of choice for end-users. Apple’s Indonesia agreement is unclear, but customers will finally get their hands on the iPhone 16.
