A year ago,
we told you about Loop, a new zero-waste delivery company that was asking big brands to fully redesign their packaging so it could be reused. Loop would let people order online, then return the packaging of their items to be cleaned, refilled, and shipped out again. Häagen-Dazs, for instance, made a metal ice cream container. Other companies changed how they sold detergent, or toothpaste.
It’s now been a year, and Loop is expanding. While customers have complained about the small range of products on the site, more are being added, and soon you’ll be able to get them in stores, à la carte, as the company opens Loop-branded sections in various retailers. You just bring your container back to the store when you’re done.
The companies it works with are also taking advantage of their new innovations: Häagen-Dazs is now rolling out the metal ice cream pint in more and more of its retail stores, for instance.
