Why I carry both |
There are a lot of credit cards out there, some with great travel benefits, some with sky-high annual fees and plenty in between. For me, my two go-to cards are my Chase Sapphire Preferred Card and my American Express® Gold Card — OK, I opted for the rose gold.
There are a few reasons why I love both of these cards, starting with their lower annual fees compared with their premium counterparts, the great bonus offers I received when I got these cards and the various travel insurance protections they offer.
With my Amex Gold, I love that I earn 4 points per dollar spent on eating out — one of my favorite pastimes — and the $10 monthly Uber Cash credit I get for when I order in with Uber Eats (enrollment is required). With my Chase Sapphire Preferred, I'm a big fan of the 5 points that I earn for every dollar spent on flights booked through the Ultimate Rewards travel portal.
But with both, my favorite part is that I’m able to transfer the points I earn to a large number of transfer partners without being confined to one airline or hotel brand. If you’re considering one of these cards, we compared them in a head-to-head battle to help make the decision easier. Or, hey, why not just be like me and get them both?
