You might be asking yourself, “Why pay $525 per year for a United Airlines cobranded credit card like the United Club Infinite Card when the benefits overlap with those already offered to United elite members?”
While United Club access may seem like a good reason, it's already included on Star Alliance-operated international flights for United Premier Gold and higher elite members. However, there is a lesser-known benefit that makes these cards worthwhile: Complimentary Premier Upgrades on award tickets on eligible routes.
If you have an eligible United credit card, you have a chance at receiving a first-class upgrade you wouldn't have received otherwise. Furthermore, having an eligible United cobranded credit card gives you an advantage in upgrade clearance. Your upgrades will be prioritized over elite members with the same elite status who do not have United credit cards.
Even if you only get a few upgrades a year, it can justify the annual fee.
