| Cooler escapes | by Kyle Olsen, Points & Miles Reporter | | | There's a popular saying often attributed to Mark Twain: “The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.”
If you’re feeling the heat and want an escape, San Francisco’s high temperatures are in the mid-60s this week.
With iconic landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge and Pier 39, the City by the Bay offers breathtaking views, diverse cuisine and a mix of historical and bohemian attractions, making it a great getaway destination and perfect to include in a road trip.
San Francisco offers a wide array of luxurious hotels with exceptional service, stunning views and top-notch amenities for a perfect stay.
But my go-to is in Marriott’s Luxury Collection: the historic Palace Hotel, which has a rich past dating back to its opening in 1875. After the devastating 1906 earthquake and fire, the hotel reopened with even grander features, including a Parisian-style grand atrium with Austrian crystal chandeliers.
After a significant 2015 renovation, the hotel provides elegant rooms and suites with luxurious amenities, while its proximity to Union Square and the Ferry Building allows guests to explore the city's attractions easily.
