UNITED FLEET UPGRADES

From paid bumps to complimentary elite perks, upgrades may come in many shapes and sizes, but the gist is usually the same — book a ticket in economy, get to fly in first class or biz. Soon, it'll be easier to score saver awards or jump up to a premium cabin on many aircraft across one major US airline's fleet.

Today, United announced plans to:

In total, United will add even more premium-cabin seats to nearly 250 aircraft. Also today, we chat about all things Auckland on this week's episode of the Miles Away podcast — you won't find United's 767s flying to New Zealand, but that shouldn't stop you from booking a trip!

LOUNGE ACCESS

London is one of our favorite cities, but flying in and out can be expensive, even on points. Taxes and fees can add several hundred dollars to the cost of an award ticket, but fortunately they're possible to avoid. You can get to Amsterdam or Paris for buttons on the likes of EasyJet, Norwegian et al)." If you're bringing lots of bags, try Eurostar instead.
